Political Journey

U.S. Senate Election

In 2022, Britt ran for the Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate seat held by retiring Senator Richard Shelby. She campaigned on a platform of conservative values and support for Alabama's priorities.

Britt emerged victorious in a closely contested primary election. Her success made her the first woman to win a statewide GOP primary in Alabama since 1968.

Junior U.S. Senator

In January 2023, Katie Britt was sworn in as the junior U.S. Senator from Alabama, becoming the youngest Republican woman ever elected to the chamber.

As a senator, Britt serves on the Energy and Natural Resources, Judiciary, Banking, and Commerce committees. Her focus areas include economic growth, energy independence, and protecting the rights of Alabamians.
