Bauers Struggles to Find a Rhythm at the Plate, Team Makes Roster Moves

Brewers Call Up Outfielder Esteury Ruiz, Designate Andruw Monasterio for Assignment

The Milwaukee Brewers have optioned first baseman Jake Bauers to Triple-A Nashville and recalled outfielder Esteury Ruiz from the minors.

Bauers has struggled to find a rhythm at the plate this season, batting just .139 with one home run and six RBIs in 33 games.

The Brewers also designated right-handed pitcher Andruw Monasterio for assignment to make room for Ruiz on the active roster.

Ruiz, 23, was hitting .301 with two home runs and 10 RBIs in 30 games at Triple-A Nashville.

The Brewers hope that Ruiz can provide a spark to the team's offense, which has struggled to score runs consistently this season.

Bauers, 27, was acquired by the Brewers in a trade with the Seattle Mariners in April.

He was expected to be a key part of the team's offense, but he has not lived up to expectations.

The Brewers are now 21-32 this season and are in last place in the NL Central.

They will face the Chicago Cubs in a three-game series starting on Tuesday.
